I’m rating this a 3 hoping readers will take a look. I’m going thru the same problem as a previous reviewer; the screws connecting base to TV don’t fit. After the same back and forth with Amazon, Samsung, J&J, and Samsung, it appears the base shipped with the TV was the wrong model. The correct model number according to Samsung is BN96-13016C. Mine came with a BN61-0643A. The model number is on the underside of the base. Samsung is sending me a new one, I’ll report later if this solves the problem.

    PROS:

    * Excellent picture quality for the price.

    * Accurate color (flesh tones where a little red but I was able to get correct them with a little tweaking.)

    * I have a Samsung LCD model LN52B610 and this plasma handles motion so much more fluidly than my LCD.

    * Picture quality was also on par w/ LCD, PQ might be even a little bit better on the plasma. (sucks since I paid $1900 for LCD only paid $550 for plasma!)

    * No lag when playing PS3 games.

    * Had TV for about a week before it was returned (due to buzzing) and exprienced NO image retention when playing my PS3.

    CONS:

    * BUZZING.

    – Easily heard over 12 feet away over normal content (volume = 15)

    – Louder w/ brighter scenes.

    * Screen is very reflective. Almost mirror like.

    * Black levels were better with a dim light placed behind TV.

    * You have to sit farther away to get best picture quality due to resolution (720P)

From my research I found that the buzzing problem is hit or miss with this model. I’m ordering the 50″ of this same model as soon as my refund is processed. Hopefully I won’t get a buzzer!

Overall TV is highly recommended for the price.

Not only did I receive free shipping, It arrived in less than 2 days. The samsung brand of high definition tv’s are so far superior to other brands in many categories. Color quality is unmatched and the tv itself is easy to hook up and user friendly. A pleasure owning my samsung. I get compliments from friends and family all the time.

I found this tv through extensive research online and saw that it was extremely cheap compared to other stores 42′ tv’s so I had to go for it. Free shipping was available to which brought the tv straight to my door step at charge what so ever =]. It took some time to set my settings using regular composite cables with directv but i noticed that by setting it to game mode it helps regular tv look better. HDMI connections look absolutely wonderful. No burns or none of that plasma bs. Tv has a nice elegant tone when it turns on and off (can be turned off or even low, med, or high volume. Anynet is absolutely fabulous too, i can turn my ps3 and tv on just by tapping the middle control button on the ps3 controller. Overall this tv is a must have, it’s unfortunate that they raised it $50 for everybody else because I got it at a wonderful $494 =D

Overall I’m very happy with this purchase. Ordered and received quickly from Amazon as always.

It has taken a bit of adjustment to get the picture quality to where I like it, but this should be expected by every user since every lighting situation is different.

Other than price the key reason I decided on this TV was the statement in the item description that it had a PC input. This is NOT the case. You can hook up a PC by use of an HDMI dongle, but there is not a VGA input. This does limit usability somewhat. I cannot hook up cable, xbox 360 and a PC at the same time without additional equipment (an HDMI “switching” box).

If it weren’t for the extremely attractive price point this would have been a deal breaker for me, but overall I’m quite happy with the tv. I’ve not experienced any buzzing as others have stated and the picture is very crisp and clear.

Sound quality on mine is good, but not great.
